Communication as a success factor for the practice
The 2030 Agenda calls for multi-actor partnerships to address common challenges through joint efforts. It recognises that the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will only be achieved with strong partnerships and collaborations, which is why goal 17 “Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development” encompasses all the goals as an umbrella. Therefore the success of the 2030 Agenda requires inclusive partnerships based on principles and values, as well as a shared vision that puts the well-being of people and the planet at it’s centre.
Partnerships are versatile and formed i.e. between LAs and CSOs, young and established actors or with countries in the so-called Global South. A thoughtful interpersonal communication is crucial in order for partnerships to be successful at global, regional, national and local levels. The perspective from which communication takes place must be reflected and questioned so that the partnership can develop its greatest potential possible.
On January 26th the first capacity building for 2023 in Baden-Württemberg with Dr. Kidist Hailu, expert promoter for local partnerships in Baden-Württemberg, kick-started the shift of persepectives with regards to communication in partnerships. Through practical and interactive approaches, partnerships were looked at from different perspectives and with the involvement of the participants’ experiences. The impulses of the workshop enable the participants to successfully shape their partnerships.
