This year’s BoatPet competition, part of JCI’s activities in the Mindchangers’ subgranted project CleanUp Craiova, saw five teams of high school students battle it out with their self-designed and constructed rafts out of recycled pets. Each team’s raft was designed to be safely floatable, well-balanced, and easily steered in the fight for the first prize. All in the enthusiastic cheers of the audience on the shore!
The race took place on the sunny Sunday morning of 11th June. Students, teachers, family and friends enjoyed the smooth water surface of Lake Hanul Doctorului in Craiova and the activities organized by JCI Craiova in collaboration with ADI ECODOLJ, Salubritate Craiova, Department of Physics (University of Craiova), Alexandru & Aristia Aman County Library Craiova, Opera Română Craiova and Heroes.
The competitors, students and coordinating teachers, represented the “Nicolae Titulescu” National College, “Ștefan Velovan” National Pedagogical College, “Elena Cuza” National College, “Tudor Vladimirescu” National Military College and “Tudor Arghezi” Theoretical High School in Craiova.
